We planted Yellow Onion sets in juice cartons to let the roots get started. After two weeks, children transplanted them into the school's courtyard. In the middle of the brick planter, we were able to plant some basil that a teacher brought in.
A couple weeks later we planted carrots and cherry radishes. We have checked on our onions and labeled out plants so we don't forget what or where we planted. We also discussed the meaning of the word "harvest". We counted and projected our harvest dates.
