USGBC-ASLA Schoolyard Memory Garden Plan-Phase II

Elementary students , through the leadership of student council members and faculty advisors, and professonal support from members of American Society of Landsacpe Architects (ASLA) and U.S. Green Building Council New York Upstate, will establish a garden on school grounds in memory of two school custodians, Clinton Shelley and Clifford Both. Students have learned about native plants, soils, plant selection, allergy-free plantings, drought-reisistant landscaping, as well as the value and impact of recycled materials to assist in the selection of memorial benches. Students and their families, along with faculty and staff will assist in plant selection and planting and maintaining the garden. Donations are being sought to cover the cost of site work, plants and bushes, and engraved benches.
