2018-19 Green Schools Quest
2018-19 Green Schools Quest
Through the Green Schools Quest, an annual project-based challenge issued by the U.S. Green Building Council – Missouri Gateway Chapter, local K-12 schools are paired with mentors and challenged to devise and implement no/low cost sustainability projects at their schools over a six month period of time (October through mid-March.) Schools document their impact, such as energy savings or increased biodiversity, during the project and submit their project’s process and impact for judging by an impartial panel at the conclusion. Mentors assist schools with project identification and implementation. No matter where each school currently stands in regards to sustainability, this project-based challenge provides a framework, mentor, and friendly student-driven competition aimed at advancing schools' sustainability initiatives in a way that is aligned with each school’s unique needs and desires. A record 59 schools participated in the 2018-19 Green Schools Quest! According to the schools' final reports which were due March 2019, over 3,400 students and nearly 200 faculty/staff were directly involved in the projects and thousands more were impacted!
