Drop after drop...Let's fill up the reservoir of life

May 15, 2018

Drop after drop ... let's fill up the reservoir of life! is a project on how we can reduce water consumption. This is a project developed and managed by school students to recognize the value of one of the most precious natural resources and at the same time to promote more sustainable strategies on water use.

Throughout the school year, the students of the school (K-12) actively participated in the project, exploring the issue of water in all its aspects and developing the most diverse strategies to reduce water consumption through. Furthermore, other projects have been developed that are always related to the theme of sustainability.
The project supervisor Carla Antonioli hosted “Drop after drop ...... let's fill up the reservoir of life!” at the “Science Under 18” event in “Sabucchi park”. During the two-day event, the students told the project and presented the work done to the many students invited to the event and coming from other schools in the Abruzzo region or by participating live by social network, from other cities in Italy (Rome, Florence, Trento).

GBC Italia team staff (Eleonora, Maurizio and Clevan) played the role of support and sponsor, bringing together the supervisor and teachers for training and helping to facilitate the success of the project.

More impact of project

The project developed by the students of the K-12 schools has been very successful with a positive impact on the whole school community, because for its development different tools have been used with the aim of involving as many students as possible: singing "Water and Piano" with the children of the kindergarten school; comics (The Carla tree, The mystery of the disappeared water, ...), posters and experiments (Irrigation and Solar Drip) with elementary school students; working model on wastewater recovery with phytodepuration with middle school students.

Furthermore, organizing the event in a public place together with the method of letting the students tell the project and the work they carried out to all the other students and teachers of other schools, to the parents and to the whole community that attends the "Sabelli park" every day, and who approached the stands with the desire to know, allowed to involve and sensitize all the people who attended the event, and then to extend the project beyond the "walls of the school".
