Designing for STEAM Learning at Palolo Elementary School

February 24, 2018

HHF Planners partnered with Pālolo Elementary School to further realize the school’s vision for an outdoor science lab to support STEAM-based learning objectives. In collaboration with school teachers, staff and administrators, HHF’s team of passionate designers and planners developed three unique design projects including: 1) a water wall to visualize and manipulate the movement of water at varying elevations, 2) a custom weather monitoring data station to understand the patterns of rain, wind, and sun and their effects on climate, and 3) a closed-loop irrigation system that supports a dryland kalo terrace, to demonstrate one approach to water and energy conservation all the while providing fun hands-on learning!
